Everyday
DC

In collaboration with the Pulitzer Center and the Charles Sumner School Museum & Archives, Everyday DC is a dynamic and impactful middle school photojournalism Cornerstone unit that empowers students to capture and share their unique perspectives on the city they call home. Through this immersive program, students learn the art of visual storytelling and develop essential photography and journalism skills. Rather than passively consuming media, they actively challenge and reframe prevailing narratives about Washington, D.C., using their own images to present a more nuanced and authentic view of their communities. Everyday DC encourages students to see their city through a critical lens, exploring both the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of daily life, and ultimately fostering a deeper connection to their surroundings while amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream media. The partnership with the Pulitzer Center not only provides professional guidance and resources but also enriches students’ understanding of the power of journalism as a tool for change. This exciting program will take place in March 2025.
